Fuck it if I’m wrong but im drunk and it makes sense.
Light travels at the speed of light. Obviously.
When we look at the sun, we’re seeing the light/image of the sun from 8 minutes ago… it takes 8 minutes for the light from the sun to reach earth.
I think its Einstein’s theory that if you travel faster than the speed of light, away from the source of light… and look back at it… you see the previous light/image from that object… so if you were at the sun and then you teleported to earth… you would see the sun from 8 minutes ago… so technically could see yourself for 8 minutes before you teleported to earth..
The problem is you can’t time travel with that theory because you have to be moving away from the light source… so yes you can travel faster than the light from earth to look back at earth and see it’s past… but as soon as you start heading towards it again… surely you’ll just catch back up and time will relatively equal out and you will no longer be seeing older light.
Obvioisly to travel far away enough, fast enough and look back and view the light from earth to see the past… you’d have to travel pretty freaking far and fast… bearing in mind that it only takes 8 mins for the light to reach the sun…
Hopefully this makes sense and disproves time travel on the basis of traveling faster than light… as you always need to be moving faster than light to see the past but can never go there as you are relatively observing it.
Science, bitches. I’m wrecked.
